Next week i will have the most of my terrieums finished. with light and heating etcs. Now i have to start filling in the terraiums i have a few questions maybe someone can help me with.
Terriaums size are 150cm wide 60 cm high 60 centimeters deep. have both bottom and top heating.
1. Live Plants I think live plants look good, but when i put them in somtimes its to hot or somthing in the terriaum, and they die and get brown. they make a little more work but i really like the look. does anyone one which plants are ok for snakes... and are pretty tuff and easy to take care of. should i even bother? or just get plastic ones.
2. Bark or substrate I have useed a few diffrent material for the bottome... torv (dirty), apsen (looks wrong but works) , but i sort of like the look and how Repti bark works and looks. The problem is reptibark is expensive... if i had just one or 2 terraiums i would just take the cost.. but i have 5, and they take a LOT of repti bark. I have a boa in one and took 2 full packages. Is there somthing else somone can reccomend... thats cheaper i will need a lot, and when i clean i will have to refill a few times a year. any help would be great
3. Perches A few of my Snakes are Chrondros.. right now there Perches are detachable which makes it great for water changes cleaning e etc etc. you can take out the snake, without messing with them too much. The problem is when the terraium is 150 cm wide now the Perch will be GIANT! and it will be amost imposible to take out a 150cm perch from the tank. with out it being a pain. i have seen some people build some PVC pipe stuff that holds it self up, but i think it look like popp =)
Thanks for any comments
